About the Office

Gender and Development Office

The Gender and Development (GAD) Office of Romblon State University coordinates the university's efforts to create gender-sensitive and gender-inclusive spaces and opportunities in all of its campuses across the province.

In line with Republic Act No. 9710 (Magna Carta of Women), CHED Memorandum Order No. 1, Series of 2015 (Establishing the Policies and Guidelines on Gender and Development in CHED and Higher Education Institutions), and Republic Act No. 11313 (Safe Spaces Act), the office works through the university's GAD Focal Point System to promote a culture of respect and equality, knowing that a deeper understanding of gender issues helps prevent gender-based discrimination and violence.

The GAD Office aims to:

  1. 1 Educate the university's students, faculty and personnel on gender issues and on the university's GAD programs, projects and activities;
  2. 2 Integrate gender perspectives in instruction, research, extension and administration;
  3. 3 Coordinate with colleges, offices and campuses in designing responses to gender-related issues and concerns;
  4. 4 Work with student organizations in promoting gender sensitivity and inclusivity on campus;
  5. 5 Prepare the annual GAD Plan and Budget and GAD Accomplishment Report; and
  6. 6 Support the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) in handling gender-related cases.
