The Romblon State University (RSU) Main Campus community, led by University President Prof. Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani and the University’s top officials, gathered at the RSU Quadrangle for the Flag Raising Ceremony to formally open a new week, welcome the month of March, and mark the beginning of the National Women’s Month Celebration 2026.

The ceremony was hosted by the College of Business and Accountancy, whose faculty and staff facilitated the program with enthusiasm and pride.

A highlight of the event was the official kickoff of the National Women’s Month Celebration 2026 by the Gender and Development Office, led by Director Ms. Carolyn D. Fetalver. The opening featured a powerful, dramatic monologue performed by selected women from the University. The presentation traced the journey of women’s empowerment in Philippine history, from the spiritual leadership of the Babaylan to the image of Maria Clara, and finally to the strength and resilience of the modern Filipina.

In her message, President Mani emphasized the vital role of women in nation-building and community development.

“Mabuhay ang diwa ng Babaylan sa ating mga kababaihang Romblomanon at Pilipino. Muli, ipinapaalala ko sa lahat na ang mga kababaihan ang may pinakamalaking puso para umunawa, para magmahal, para tumulong, at para magsakripisyo,” she said, reaffirming the strength, compassion, and transformative power that women hold in society.

The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Services also awarded a Certificate of Commendation to the Supreme Student Council – Main Campus for its initiative in organizing the Prayer Brigade in commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution last February 25.

As the University moves forward into March, the celebration stands as a renewed call to uphold equality, recognize the invaluable contributions of women, and continue building a community where every Filipina is empowered to lead, inspire, and transform society.
