The Romblon State University community gathered at the University Landmark for the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony led by University President Prof. Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, together with the Vice Presidents and top officials.

Hosted by the College of Arts and Sciences, this week’s ceremony set the tone for the days ahead, reinforcing unity, discipline, and a shared commitment to public service across the Univrsity.

Following the flag rites, President Mani delivered her message, sharing key announcements and institutional updates.

She expressed her gratitude to the generous donors, students, employees, and walk-in participants who supported the Valentine’s Day Blood Donation Drive held last February 9. The initiative was spearheaded by the RSU Health Services Office in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross - Romblon Chapter.

The activity successfully collected 76 blood bags, reflecting the community’s strong spirit of volunteerism. President Mani also encouraged regular blood donation, underscoring its life-saving impact and health benefits.

During the ceremony, HSO Director Abegail F. Madali, alongside University officials, recognized the College of Arts and Sciences for recording the highest number of donors.

The University also honored Ms. Cita C. Ylagan, Associate Professor V and Food Innovation Center Manager, on the occasion of her retirement. She was presented with a plaque of recognition in appreciation of her dedicated service and lasting contributions to the University community.

President Mani further extended her congratulations to Arch. Hannah Faith M. Malabay, Director of the Institutional Planning and Development Office, and Dr. Garry Vanz V. Blancia, Director of the Research, Development, and Innovation Office, for representing RSU at the MIMAROPA Regional Development Council during the FY 2027 Sector and Agency Budget Review and Consultation held last February 13.

In promoting wellness, President Mani shared a light yet meaningful reminder: “Masarap ang pakiramdam nang mag-zumba ng 15 minutes bago umuwi,” encouraging the community to cultivate regular healthy habits for a more balanced and vibrant campus life. She also led top officials and staff in a lively dance session at the Administration Building Conference Room, marking the launch of the first Wellness Wednesday of the year last February 11.

In a solemn moment of reflection, President Mani paid tribute to the invaluable contributions of the late Dr. Julio Romeo T. Chavez, Associate Professor V and Head of the University Policy Systems Office, honoring his legacy of service and dedication.

The RSU community and friends are invited to visit the wake and join the prayer services at the RSU Worship Center from February 15 to 18. Interment will take place on February 19.
