February 9, 2026 – The Health Services Office of Romblon State University (RSU), in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross-Romblon Chapter and other partner agencies, successfully collected 76 bags of blood during a blood donation drive held at the RSU Quadrangle.
Leading the medical team was University Physician Dr. Mark John Madrigal, who oversaw the proceedings alongside support from Red Cross personnel.
Partner agencies included the Philippine Red Cross-Romblon Chapter, Romblon Provincial Hospital, and the RED Shelter Hub.
A notable highlight was the participation of RSU President Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, who donated blood during the event.
President Mani has consistently donated since assuming office, setting an example of leadership and commitment to community service.
The event also saw participation from students, faculty, and personnel of the university, who stepped forward to donate and support the province's blood supply. The drive was part of ongoing efforts to address blood shortages in Romblon and promote voluntary blood donation as a lifesaving act.
In the afternoon, RSU was recognized by the Philippine Red Cross for its consistent contributions to preventing blood shortages in the province.
RSU conducts blood donation drives annually, every 14th of February, as its expression of love to the province, and as part of its commitment in bolstering the local blood inventory.
RSU holds quarterly blood donation drives, spread across its campuses as part of the university's commitment in sustaining emergency medical needs, surgical procedures, and treatments for conditions such as anemia and trauma across Romblon.
